🏆Day Streaks

How day streaks work, what keeps one alive, and how to rescue a day you missed.

Maintaining a day streak is a cornerstone of learning a language. It uses the power of habit to turn an overwhelming task into a manageable daily investment of time and effort.

How it works

  • Show up every day. Simply opening LangX credits the day and keeps your streak alive. A day with nothing to say should not cost you two hundred of them.

  • Do something that counts, to earn the bonus. The milestone rewards at 7, 30, 100 days and beyond are paid for a day you actually practised — send a message, write a correction, or answer a pronunciation request. Open the app in the morning and write a correction that evening, and the bonus is paid then. The streak is about showing up; the tokens are about practising.

  • One increment a day. A streak grows by +1 per day, no matter how long you stayed. Consistency is the thing being measured, not session length.

  • Your day, not a server's day. The streak runs on your own local day, which is why the timezone on your profile can only be changed once a week — an unrestricted timezone field would be a streak-repair button.

Rescuing a missed day

A broken streak used to be gone for good. It is not any more: a streak freeze costs 200 tokens, and if you miss a day, one is spent automatically and the streak survives.

You can bank two at a time. Enough for real life, not enough to make the streak meaningless.

A freeze covers the next day you miss — it does not reach back. For a day you have already missed, you can still buy it back for 600 tokens: from the store in your wallet, which offers the most recent day you missed, or by tapping the empty square on your activity map. Within the last 14 days, twice a month, and never today. If the day you fill sat between two runs, they join and your streak becomes the whole length.

Milestones

Reaching a milestone pays a bonus:

The 100- and 365-day milestones also give Pro: 1 month and 3 months, once each. See Getting Pro Free.

Beyond the bonuses, showing up daily is also the surest way to a share of the daily pool, since the pool is worked out from what you actually did that day.

Leaderboards 🏆

The streak page carries its own table, ranked by days. Two tabs: Now, the run each member is holding at the moment, and Longest, the best they have ever held. A streak has to be alive to appear under Now — somebody who stopped weeks ago keeps their number in Longest but drops off the current table, so it is a table of people who are showing up, not of people who once did.

The token leaderboards — weekly, monthly, yearly and all-time, ranking tokens earned — live in your wallet under your balance.

Your own rank is always shown on both, even when you are outside the top of the table.

Coming back after a break

If you had a streak in an older version of LangX, it was frozen rather than lost. You can spend tokens to bring it back when you return. See LangX Token.
