# Spending Tokens

The complete list of what LangX Tokens can be spent on — a streak freeze, filling in a missed day, cosmetic frames and titles, and sticker packs.

There are exactly four things to spend tokens on. The list is short on purpose, and it is worth explaining why before going through it.

## Streak freeze — 200 tokens

A streak freeze rescues a day you missed, so one bad day does not undo months of practice. Buy one in advance; if you miss a day, it is spent automatically and your streak survives.

You can bank **two at a time**. That is enough to cover real life — a flight, a hospital visit, a week that got away from you — and not enough to make the streak meaningless. A stockpile of freezes would turn a streak into a number you bought rather than a habit you kept.

## Fill in a missed day — 600 tokens

A freeze is bought before the day you miss. This is for the one you already missed: it fills a single empty square on your activity map, and if that square sat between two runs, your streak becomes the whole length.

Three limits, and each is doing a job:

* **The last 14 days only.** Beyond that you are not repairing a lapse, you are rewriting a season.
* **Two a month.** This is the one that matters. It is the cap rather than the price that stops a large balance manufacturing a streak nobody lived — at two a month, no amount of tokens buys a run you did not keep.
* **Never today.** Today is earned by using the app, which takes one message.

It costs more than a freeze on purpose. A freeze asks you to think ahead and costs you that foresight; a repair asks nothing of you but tokens, so it should not be the cheaper habit. Measured against what a day is worth — two hundred messages, at one token each — a repair is about three days of committed use to buy one day back.

Before you buy, the app tells you exactly what the purchase will do — including when the honest answer is *nothing much*. A square in the middle of a fortnight you were away for fills in and joins no streak at all, and you will be told that before you spend rather than after.

## Frames and titles

Cosmetic frames around your avatar, and titles shown next to your name. They change how your profile looks and nothing else.

There are sixteen frames and ten titles. Each frame is a small piece of craft from somewhere in the world — cut paper, stitching, tile, lacquer, glass.

| Frame | Tokens |
| -------------- | ------ |
| Papel Picado | 1,000 |
| Washi Tape | 1,750 |
| Running Stitch | 2,500 |
| Linocut | 3,250 |
| Woven Reed | 4,000 |
| Origami Fold | 6,000 |
| Indigo Dye | 7,500 |
| Enamel Pin | 9,000 |
| Mosaic | 11,000 |
| Iznik Tile | 13,000 |
| Khokhloma | 18,000 |
| Seal and Fret | 21,500 |
| Qalam | 25,000 |
| Marquetry | 30,000 |
| Night Hoop | 35,000 |

| Title | Tokens |
| -------- | ------- |
| Beginner | 1,500 |
| Learner | 3,000 |
| Helper | 5,000 |
| Tutor | 8,000 |
| Mentor | 12,000 |
| Linguist | 15,000 |
| Polyglot | 17,000 |
| Scholar | 20,000 |
| Master | 50,000 |
| Legend | 100,000 |

Frames and titles are two ladders, and you climb each one in order: a frame opens once you own the frame before it in the list, or any frame after it. Titles work the same way. So if you already wear a dearer frame — one you bought earlier, or one that came with a subscription — the cheaper ones below it are open to you too. The two ladders are separate; a frame never depends on a title.

The sixteenth frame, **Aurora Glass**, cannot be saved up for. It costs 50,000 and is only offered to someone who has held a 365-day streak *and* corrected 5,000 times — the top streak badge and the top corrections badge. Corrections in a chat, corrections on a post and recordings left on a pronunciation request all count towards that number; they are the same act in different media, and each one is paid the same. Anyone who qualifies has already earned more than its price from those alone, so the gate decides who and the price only decides when.

## Sticker packs — from 1,000 tokens

Ten packs of twelve stickers to send in a chat.

| Pack | Tokens | What it is for |
| ----------------- | ------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Starter | 1,000 | Pip, a little speech bubble, saying the everyday ones — hello, I am listening, thank you |
| Paper Talk | 1,500 | Hellos and quick replies cut from coloured paper — ¡Hola!, Çay?, Merci, Fixed it |
| Margin Notes | 1,500 | A teacher's red pen on lined paper — insert, strike, swap, and a gold star |
| Polyglot stickers | 1,500 | Hello, thank you and good luck on postage stamps, in twelve languages |
| Practice | 1,000 | The practice itself, as felt badges — slow down, again, we got there |
| Pixel | 1,500 | Fuse-bead sprites in an 8-bit game's language — an extra life, a checkpoint, a save |
| Study Desk | 1,500 | Stationery for homework together — flashcards, a highlighter, a tomato timer |
| Night Owl | 1,500 | Chatting across time zones, when it is morning for one of you and midnight for the other |
| Qalam stickers | 1,500 | Ink and the tools of writing — a reed pen, marbled paper, a quill, a wax seal |
| Shared Table | 1,500 | Twelve dishes you would describe to a partner from somewhere else |

Packs are not a ladder the way frames and titles are. There is no rung below any of them, so any one can be bought first, alone, or never. Starter and Practice cost 1,000 because they are the two entry packs — the price somebody new can reach first, in either flavour — and every other pack costs 1,500. That is a price, not a gate. Every sticker in every pack was drawn for this app.

Some packs carry **lettering**: Paper Talk's hellos, Margin Notes' red-pen remarks, Night Owl's *gm* and *gn*, and Polyglot's greetings in twelve languages and eight scripts.

## Why the list ends there

Tokens **cannot** buy a paid feature — not filters, not a wider translation allowance, not the ability to start more conversations, not Nearby. That is deliberate. The moment tokens could buy a paid feature, farming tokens would become a substitute for subscribing, and the subscription is what pays for running the app. Keeping the sinks cosmetic — or, in the case of a filled-in day, keeping them inside the streak's own rules — is what lets the token economy be generous without undermining the thing that funds it.

For the same reason there is no way to buy tokens, send them to another member, or take them out of the app. See [LangX Token](/docs/token/token.md).

## Spending does not cost you your rank

The leaderboards rank tokens **earned**, not tokens held. Buying a gold frame does not drop you down the table — your balance falls, your all-time total does not. Spending and ranking are two different numbers, so you never have to choose between them.
